What Is The A C M
What is the Association of Computing Machinery?
ACM, the Association for Computing Machinery, is the world's oldest and largest educational and scientific computing society. It is an international scientific and educational organization dedicated to advancing the arts, sciences, and applications of information technology. With a world-wide membership ACM is a leading resource for computing professionals and students working in the various fields of Information Technology, and for interpreting the impact of information technology on society.
What about the student chapter?
Membership to Appalachian's student chapter of the ACM is free. This is so that students who may not be able to afford membership dues are still able to participate in discussion and events. However, for this reason membership in the ASU student chapter of the ACM does not mean you will automatically become a member of the national ACM, nor is membership required to be a part of the chapter.
Advantages of Joining the ACM
There are many advantages. Student membership rates start at just $19, and increase as the amount of ACM resources available to you increase. More to come on this...
